Broker winners announced at biggest ever Aviva Community Fund Finale event

Sports clubs, care programmes, music, education and men’s health projects were just some of the winners awarded funding at the annual broker finale event.

On Tuesday 5 March broker finalists and their projects attended our biggest ever Aviva Broker Community Fund finale event to find out live if their project would be announced as a winner, and be successful in securing funding this year. Held in Manchester’s magnificent monastery in the heart of the Gorton community, the event opened with the sounds of the resident Gorton Voices choir. Aviva’s Phil Bayles hosted the event and talked proudly about his ongoing commitment to supporting community brokers. Phil was joined on stage by rugby world cup winner and community fund ambassador Will Greenwood who shared his own stories about the communities he’s involved with and why supporting these are so important to him.

Alongside our broker guests and projects we were joined at the event by some of our guest judges. Judging the finalists is always a difficult task, all the causes entered this year showed a genuine need for support and could have been worthy winners. Judges praised projects where brokerages showed a genuine partnership with the project and an existing level of support to champion the cause.

This year, over £258,000 has been awarded to broker supported projects through the Aviva Community Fund. In January we announced the 22 winners that secured their funding of up to £1,000 for their projects and at the finale event another 27 brokers were announced and awarded their requested funds of up to £25,000. Plus, as recognition of the efforts made by all the finalists this year, a £500 donation was awarded all finalists that did not get awarded as a winner this year. This meant that 58% of all entries supported by a broker into the Aviva Community Fund secured at least £500 for their project this year – a fantastic result.

Thank you to everyone that took part in the Aviva Community Fund this year, whether you entered a project, backed a cause by giving them your votes or got behind one of the finalists. Your support has made a difference to hundreds of local causes enabling them building stronger communities across the UK.

We’re committed to championing brokers and continuing to support you in the communities in which you live and serve.
