Changes to our Distinct Home policy
We’re continually looking to improve and innovate our personal lines offering to make it as easy as possible for you to do business with us and provide cover that’s right for your clients.
When it comes to high net worth clients we know its important that the level of cover matches their expectations. With this in mind and as a result of broker feedback we are making some changes to our Distinct Home product as below:
Making it simple
We have decided to focus on one core household product for new business, allowing us to ensure that our High Net Worth product meets our customers requirements and removes any unnecessary complexity. With effect from 5 November 2018 we will only offer Distinct Home 150 at new business with a reduced minimum contents sum insured of £100,000.
Current minimum premium levels shall continue to apply;
£1,500.00 including IPT (for buildings and contents combined)
£750.00 including IPT (for buildings or contents in isolation)
Our existing Home 75 customers will remain under the current wording until further notice.
Net Commission Rating
As part of a review and innovation in our processes we have taken the decision to implement a net commission rating approach.
Whereas in the past an average commission amount formed part of the premium calculation. We now calculate the net premium without commission. The commission associated with the agency is then added for the gross quote, thus ensuring the same net quotation to all brokers. This will allow you greater flexibility in utilising commission amounts to tailor the gross premium to suit the demands and needs of your clients.
We’re making changes to our rating process to ensure we’re giving you the most accurate and bespoke pricing for your high net worth clients. Utilising this level of data in our calculations, we can bring you more targeted and up to date rates.

These rating improvements will enable Aviva Private Clients to share a clear and concise strategy for the business we write going forward as well as tailored rating for your clients.
