Personal Lines Renewal Documents

To meet recent FCA rules and guidance we’re making changes to our personal lines renewal documents.





What are the changes?  

For policies received by the customer from 1 April;

  • The renewal documents will now show last year’s premium or annualised cost following mid-term adjustment (excluding associated fees and charges) so that it can be easily compared with the premium to be paid by the customer on renewal.
  • For renewals during year one, two and three there’s a statement encouraging the customer to check that the level of cover they receive still matches their requirements. They’re able to shop around if they wish.
  • On the fourth renewal and beyond) there’s now a statement “Please check this cover still meets your needs. You have been with us a number of years. You may be able to get the insurance cover you want at a better price if you shop around”.

If you use your own renewal documents, please make sure that you include these new elements. These changes apply to all personal lines products including "Your Van". Our commercial products aren’t affected. Please refer to the FCA for your requirements with regards to the ruling on personal lines renewal documents.
