Important information for Aviva customers traveling to or through the U.S.

From 27 January, the U.S. barred entry to anyone travelling from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for a period of 90 days, up to 27 April.

This may also impact travellers holding dual nationality who are travelling on a passport issued by one of these countries.

If you’re unsure whether you’re affected by these new measures you should contact the nearest US Embassy or Consulate for advice.

Our stance

Aviva recommends if you have plans to travel there over the coming weeks, that you contact your airline or travel provider for advice in the first instance.

If your provider is unable to assist you; in recognition of the uncertainty and to help our customers during this time, we’ve extended our standard travel insurance cover and will consider:

  • cancellation claims for customers who are no longer able to travel to the U.S. due to the restrictions; or
  • transport / accommodation costs if they’re unable to travel through the U.S. and have to make alternative arrangements to return home.

This stance applies for trips booked before 27 January which are due to take place up to 27 March. If you have any customers who’d like to make a claim they can contact us on;

  • Personal Lines - 0800 015 1091
  • Commercial Lines – 01243 621 359

Alternatively, for more information about any aspect of their travel insurance policy either visit our website or contact us on 0800 096 8104 (lines are open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday)

This is a developing situation and we’ll continue to monitor and update you with any further developments.
