Important information for Aviva customers traveling to The Gambia
Following the Presidential elections on 1 December the political situation in The Gambia has gradually deteriorated with the President declaring a 90 day state of emergency. The FCO have advised against all but essential travel to the Gambia, and that anyone currently in the country should return to the UK.Tour Operators have arranged repatriation for their customers over the next few days and will not be sending any holidaymakers to the country while the FCO advice remains in place.
Aviva recommends that customers who are either in The Gambia, or have plans to travel to the country over the coming days contact their airline or travel provider, in the first instance, for advice on coming home early or cancelling or rearranging their trip.
If your provider is unable to assist you; in recognition of the uncertainty and to help our customers during this time, we have extended our standard travel insurance cover and will consider claims for customers who are either in The Gambia and want to come home early or who have a holiday booked to The Gambia that is due to depart before 1st February 2017 and who may want to cancel or rearrange their trip.
If you have any customers who would like to make a claim they can contact us on:
