Important information for Aviva customers traveling to Berlin
Aviva extends its deepest sympathies to those affected by the tragic events in Berlin.
Following the reported Christmas Market attack in Berlin; the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have confirmed that German authorities are investigating whether there’s any link to terrorism. Customers should remain vigilant and if you are in the area that you follow the advice of local authorities; the German police have issued a contact number, +49 30 540 23 111, for people concerned or who may have relevant information.
Aviva recommends that customers who are either in Berlin or have plans to travel to or through the city over the coming days contact their airline or travel provider, in the first instance, for advice on coming home early or cancelling or rearranging their trip.
If your provider is unable to assist you; in recognition of the uncertainty and to help our customers during this time, we have extended our standard travel insurance cover and will consider claims for customers who are either in Berlin and want to come home early or who have a holiday booked to Berlin that is due to depart before 27 December 2016 and who may want to cancel or rearrange their trip.
