Important information concerning French air traffic control strike
French air traffic controllers are on strike for 3 days, starting from 20.03.16 and due to end Tuesday 22.03.16.
This is affecting flights into and out of France plus any flights crossing French airspace, and a number of flights have already been cancelled or delayed.
Under the EU Air-passenger Rights, the airline will pay for accommodation if delay or cancellation means that your customers have to stay overnight before returning home. If your customers need to reschedule their travel plans, they should contact their carrier or travel operator in the first instance.
If once they have checked in their flight is delayed for more than 12 hours they can claim a benefit under the ‘Delayed departure after check-in’ section (£25 for each full 12 hours they are delayed). If the delay lasts for more than 24 hours they can abandon their trip and we will cover the cost of the unused travel and accommodation costs which they have paid for and cannot get back, up to the limits shown in the policy booklet.
If they have purchased the optional Airspace Closure cover, if airspace is closed due to the strike and they are unable to make suitable alternative arrangements within 24 hours of their planned departure, we will cover the cost of the unused travel and accommodation costs which they have paid for and cannot get back, up to the limits shown on the policy schedule. If they are unable to return home we will provide £100 for each full 24 hour period they are unable to return home.
