Important information for customers traveling to or through Brussels

Aviva extends its deepest sympathies to those affected by the tragic events in Brussels.

Following the reported explosions at Brussels Airport and Maalbeek metro station; the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised people who are travelling to, or currently in Brussels to stay away from crowded places and to avoid public transport.

Following the explosions, the public transport network in Brussels has been closed, including all metro, tram and bus services. Eurostar services travelling in and out of Brussels Midi have been cancelled and Brussels Airport has been closed resulting in cancellation of all flights into and out of Brussels.

In recognition of the uncertainty and to help our customers during this time, we have extended our standard travel insurance cover for those either in Brussels and who want to come home early or who have a holiday booked which is due to depart over the next 28 days and who want to cancel or rearrange their trip.

Aviva recommends that UK holidaymakers who are either in Brussels, have plans to travel to or through the city over the coming days contact their airline or travel provider, in the first instance, for advice on coming home early or cancelling or rearranging their trip.
