Important information for Aviva customers travelling to and from Egypt via Sharm el Sheikh Airport
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised, as a precautionary measure, against all but essential travel by air to and from Sharm el Sheikh Airport.
In a situation like this where flights are cancelled or delayed, EU Regulations (EC 261/2004) state that airlines should arrange to pay the cost of accommodation while holidaymakers remain in a resort beyond the date they were due to return to the UK. We understand that airlines and travel providers are also allowing their customers, who are due to travel within the next few months, to cancel or re-book their holidays and flights.
Aviva recommends that UK holidaymakers with plans to travel to or from Egypt via Sharm el Sheikh Airport contact their travel provider for further information and get the latest advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
