Ghost broking – ABI support national awareness campaign

Late last year the national Get a real deal campaign was launched to raise awareness of ‘ghost broking’ amongst young drivers.

The ABI are in full support of the campaign which is designed to warn young drivers about fraudulent insurance policies issued via illegitimate insurance advisers and gives tips on how to avoid falling victim to such scams.

A spokesperson for the ABI said:

"While it is difficult to accurately quantify the size and scale of ghost broking, several high profile criminal convictions highlight that it remains a concern. And with consumers searching for competitively-priced motor insurance the issue is not going away.
"We know that certain groups, such as younger drivers, are more vulnerable to this crime and we believe that this campaign is both timely and needed to alert drivers to how to avoid these scams and drive legally with valid insurance.”
