Diamonds are forever – but not in this case
Tracey Broome of Johnstone Insurance Brokers LTD shared with us this funny claim where a diamond went missing.
“Although it wasn’t very funny for our client’s husband I recall an incident several decades ago now involving a client losing a small but expensive diamond from her engagement ring.
“My client informed me that whilst washing up she’d noticed that one of the diamonds from her engagement ring was loose and she didn’t want to risk losing it so she took the ring off and put it on the display unit, and to make sure that the diamond itself didn’t get lost she popped it into a wine glass at the side. Her intention obviously being to go to the jewellers and have the ring repaired.
“Several nights later, after ‘one of those days’ her husband came home from work and poured them both a nice glass of wine to have with their evening meal. During the course of the evening, after a few top ups to the wine glass, her husband was finishing the last of his wine and gulped down the final drop only to start coughing and spluttering when something seemed to get caught in his throat. It was at this point my client remembered the safe place that she had left her diamond!
“The question on the claim form stated ‘what precautions have been taken to prevent incidents in the future’, this was simply answered:- GET HUSBAND TO BUY ME BIGGER DIAMONDS IN FUTURE!
“Whilst I felt sorry for the husband I must say that I couldn’t fault her answer.”

To enter the Promotion, please email the details of the funny claim to email@example.com. The closing date and time of the Promotion is 11:59pm on Friday 29 November 2013 (“the Closing Date”). Entries received after the closing date will be entered in a later promotion. The winner will be selected by an independent judge (“the Winner”) 2 weeks later. The Winner will receive £100 John Lewis (“the Prize”), within 7 days of notification. The Prize is subject to availability. The Promoter retains the right to substitute the Prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original Prize offered is not available. The name of the Winner for the Promotion will be published in the next edition of the Loop along with their winning story after the Winner has been notified.
