Ask us a question
Is laid up cover available on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) policies?
Yes, but you won't be able to process this using your software house system.
If a vehicle requires laid-up cover, please recover the certificate from the policyholder and keep it on file. Next, advise your dedicated Personal LInes underwriting team* who'll 'note' the client's policy records. When the request to reinstate cover is received, you must issue a manual covernote and inform your Personal Lines team of the period for which the vehicle has been laid-up. We'll then be able to calculate and issue a return premium, subject to the period being 28 days or more.
*Calls may be recorded and/or monitored.
